February 2017 - Trouc of Desmembreri
The studio recently visited Grand Antique d’Aubert quarry near the village of Saint-Girons, in the Midi-Pyrenees region of France.
The quarry has a fascinating history dating back to pre-christ where the Romans quarried blocks, and has sat abandoned / lost for over two millennia - Louis XIV sent a several scouting expeditions to the area to source for Versailles yet couldn't find it, earning it the affectionate nickname Trouc of Desmembreri or 'Cavity of Oblivion' by the locals.
